Tzaps

Recruitment Platform Redesign

For my summer internship at Lemon Yellow LLP, I worked on the redesign of Tzaps, a recruitment platform. We started from the beginning, the research. The project was ongoing when my internship tenure ended. The progress shown in this case study only reflects the work I did in those 9 weeks. Due to non-disclosure agreement all the confidencial information about the project had to be omitted.
Timeline   :      9 weeks

My Role    :
Responsible for UI & UX of Tzaps’ client portal. Successfully redesigned 56% of the portal within 9 weeks.

What is Tzaps?

Tzaps is a SAAS platform through which companies can find the perfect fit candidate for them through unique visual psychometric assessements. The platform has 3 portals:

Superadmin

HRs

Candidate

Superadmins who look after the overall management of both the portals, give permissions and ensure smooth functioning.

Hiring managers from a who use the platform to hire candidates.

Aspiring candidates who use the platform to give assessments.

On client’s request, HR platform was prioritized and worked upon.

A better look at Tzaps

I went through their existing website and tried to get a better grasp of the platform.

Let’s hear it from them

So what’s the problem?

Creating stylescapes

In order to communicate different styles and concepts for the UI screens, I created different stylescapes. The stylescapes describes how we imagine the user base and the visual aspects. Stylescapes are elaborate and detailed compared to moodboards.

Building the groundwork

I created information architecture to organize and structure content. The existing platform was divided into small sections and each section was referred to as a milestone. Every week, we aimed to complete one milestone.

Then I made user flows which helped us recognize points of friction. After analysing them, we revised the IA.

Communicating with the client

To communicate the design style better to the client, I created login screen (part of Milestone 1) in different visual styles. Out of these screens, the client finalized one, which was taken forward.

Design system: work in progress

We began developing a design system after we had a fundamental idea of the visual design style. In the beginning, we added several elements to fly off with. We would discuss and add new elements to the library as we required them. It was a continuous process. At the end, we'd clean the file and compile it all together.

What did we achieve from this project?

- Organized the data into tidy tables that were easier to read
- Set up a design system to maintain consistency on the platform
- Revamped the information architecture to improve the navigation
- Since the platform was text heavy, we introduced apt amount of white where required
- We also tried to chop the content into bite-sized pieces for ease of consumption by the user
- Reduced unnecessary flows and sections
- Intuitive UI and simplified viewing experience.

Things I learnt

-What are stylescapes and how they can be used
-How to build a design system learnt to visualize data better
-Importance of good navigation and clean design
-Identified problems within the current flow
-A neat organization of data can reduce cognitive load of users
-Copy and illustrations can lighten up the mood of platforms as serious as a recruiting platform.
